Describe a place

We have been learning to describe a place we go.

We started our descriptions with action, speech, what we saw, heard or smelt.  We wrote about what we do there, why we liked it and used our senses to add important details.

Here are some examples of our fantastic pieces of writing.

KFC by Logan

As I went in the door I smelt the greasy chicken. I was just in a rush to stuff the chicken in my face like a pig. The skin was crunchy. After I couldn't believe I was full. As I left I started to want more.

My room by Ben
Take a journey to one of the messiest places you will ever see. First you will meet my floordrobe extending miles on end.
Then you will see under my desk with tons of paper coming out my paperfall AKA my desk. Within seconds you will visit toy world again with tidal waves of lego, rainbow loom and nerf. You may even meet a monster called tidy up time.

Park by Charlotte
I can hear the wind ruffling the grass as I sprint to Grasslees Reserve with my brother. I feel excitement whenever I go there. It's always a race to get to the hamster wheel, but it's usually extremely busy.

The park has been completely rebuilt with many new things to play on and now there's even a basketball court and a big curved bridge. There is a big grey slide when many people zoom really fast down like torpedoes.

A park like this is a cool, fun, awesome place to play! PS-If you want a BBQ, here's a place to cook up a spell! (There's picnic tables too.)

Pink Pineapple By Sylvia
I walk in with my sister. I hear people's stomaches rumbling. I smell chocolate fudge. At the top there is a pink pineapple. (It looks really cool). I usually see the delicious hot chips and more. I sit down and stare at the sweet things. I just feel like buying them all. I love going to the pink pineapple because the food there is so yummy.

Soccer by Liam
A place I like to go is soccer. I put on my boots and shin pads. I run to the coach. We start the game of football. I see my team mates ready to zoom after the ball. We see the painted line all across the field.

I hear the whistle. We start the game. Everyone sprints to the ball. My team mate gets the ball and passes it to me. I pass it to another team mate and he boots the ball. The ball goes between the legs of the goal keeper and we score all of the other people on the side line cheer out loud. But it is only the start.

Pool by Hayley

I sprint to the pool. I see the water screaming at me to jump in. Splash. I smack into the water as a cold feeling rushes to my body. I get my hair wet as I dive under water to do a flip. "Oh no the smell of yucky chlorine has taken over the smell of my nice apple shampoo," I say.

I like going to the pool because it's a time to enjoy either the cold or warm water and have fun on the slides. I go to the pool with lots of people, sometimes friends and other times family.

After I have had a play in the pool I usually go to the slides because the slides are always packed like 10 minutes after I get there. They are really fun to go down especially when you go down with your older brother.

My room by Kailey (inspired by Ben's writing about his room)
Carefully step over the pointy teeth of the gaping monster (AKA the uneven rug by the door) and dodge the rolling pointy spears (AKA the pencils on the floor). Splash, your foot sinks into a polluted shallow sea (AKA unwashed clothes).

Skipping around the hard rocks (AKA bits of lego lying around) you look up and see falling white water (AKA lots of art pilled up and falling off the desk).

Cloth is strewn on a log for a place to sleep (AKA the unkept bed). Then you see the stormy face of the cleaning up cloud (AKA Dad).

You moan as you start draining up the filthy water (AKA putting dirty clothes in the washing basket) and remove all the stones (AKA rearrange the lego).

Then you begin the job of filing down the giant teeth (AKA straightening the rug) so the are no longer sharp. You put the spears back in their (AKA put the pencils away).

Mopping up the white water (AKA putting all the paper away) you straighten the messy cloth (AKA make the bed) so there is no wood in sight.

Then you grab the super sucker 4,000,000 (AKA the vacuum cleaner) and suck up the remaining mess (AKA vacuum the floor). Then a quick sweep of the walls (AKA dusting). Then you look up and see two smiley white puffy clouds (AKA Mum and Dad).

The lollie shop by Anoushka
“Slurp smack mmm” my mouth waters like a fountain as I stare at all the many different sweets in the amazing lolly shop. Licorice, candy canes, strawberry hearts and much much more. Grumble!!!!!

I start to grab 100s of lollies: gummy bears, jelly snakes, milk bottles and best of all turkish delight!

So many yummy sweet I wish I could go there everyday. I love watching my brother eating in front of my mum and dad.

I always feel as if I’m in Candyland when I am in there. It smells like goodness in there.

I think I might finish the lollies before I even get home.

Buddy class

Most Fridays we meet up with our Year 2 buddies from Room 3. We do a range of different activities like reading, PE, and making things.

Today we did some writing together. We were given 3 words (gazing, balloon and grumpy) that we had to include in our stories.

Room 18 students have enjoyed this type of activity recently, so it was fun for them to teach and help their little buddies with it.

Some of our stories were...

I cannot stop gazing at the balloon and I am also grumpy.

I can not stop gazing at the balloons but then I looked at the balloons and they were on the floor. A plane popped the balloons. I was so so so so so so grumpy.

I was very quite grumpy but I was gazing at the balloons when mother went out.

Once upon a time there was a dinosaur and one day he got really grumpy and popped all the balloons in his fire.

Yike Bike

Our topic this term is about inventions and innovations.

Today we watched some videos about the Yike Bike. We thought it was amazing.
